2,000-year-old
Brain Well Preserved
Under the personal instruction of researcher
Professor Xu Yongqing of the Shanghai Corpse Antisepsis Institute,
the corpse of a woman from the Han Dynasty (206BC - AD 220)
was recently anatomized. The woman, 1.6 meters tall and 25.5
kilograms in weight, was exhumed in Lianyungang City.
The scientists were astonished to find that,
other than a little tissue atrophy, the woman's brain was still
intact after 2,000 years interment. Some cerebral sulci and
convolutions were still identifiable, and its trigeminal was
also well preserved. Experts commented, "This is miraculous!"
