80,000 Overseas Students Received in 2002


More and more foreign students are coming to China.

A total of 85,829 foreign students from 175 countries and regions came to study in China in 2002 -- a 42 percent rise over 2001. Of these, 95 percent were self-funded. The majority of these students, numbering 63,000, studied in fields relating to Chinese culture, and 4,000 opted for traditional Chinese medicine.
