Largest Cliffside Buddhist Scripture Found

Cliffside carvings of Buddhist sutras were recently found on Taihang Mountain, Hebei Province. The cliffside Buddhist scripture dates back to the Northern Qi period 1,450 years ago, and comprises 130,000 characters. It is the oldest and largest Buddhist inscription so far found in China.

Ancient stone statues, grottos and architectures, all precious relics from the early years of Buddhism in China, were also discovered on the site.
