Ploughing Native Soil for Fine Arts

An exhibition entitled Chinese Fine Arts Today included more than 650 works by 300 artists. The show, intended to showcase China's young artists, new art concepts and a fresh perception of contemporary life, is being held at the China Millennium Altar in Beijing. The exhibits cover a great variety of art forms from diverse schools and styles, including traditional Chinese painting, oil painting, watercolor, print, sculpture, photography, video and other experimental arts. Many young emerging artists in China, such as Sui Jianguo, Deng Le, Liu Jianping, Duan Jianwei and Chao Ge, have submitted their works for display. The exhibition's planner, Guo Xiaochuan, said this art pageant will help explore options for Chinese fine arts, expand the native audience and promote the public's interaction with art.
