China's Number of College Students Tops the World


A 2003 university commencement. According to a recent UNESCO report, China now leads the world in its college student enrollment.

The number of college students has reached 100 million worldwide, said Tang Qian, a senior official of UNESCO educational department. According to a recent UNESCO report, the number of China's college students has for the first time exceeded that of the United States to lead the world. Tang said that the number of college students from the five biggest educational systems constitutes over half of the world total, the first being China, followed by the USA, India, Russia and Japan.
