Wild
Animals Proliferate in Tibet

Wetland in Tibet is a paradise for
wild ducks. At times, tens of thousands of ducks gather
there. |
World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Tibet Project director
Dawa Cering recently received news from American wild life conservation
expert George Schaller of a sharp increase in Tibetan wildlife.
Schaller drew this conclusion after comparing results of a recent
investigation in the Qangtang Nature Reserve in Tibet with one
made ten years ago.
The American Wildlife Conservation Society
(WCS) published an article on its website about Schaller's investigation.
Its results indicate that Tibetan antelopes have increased from
3,900 in 1991 to 5,900, wild donkeys from 224 to 2,241, goa
from 352 to 487, and wild yaks from 13 to 187.
