At Least 1,000 Additional Helicopters Needed in China in the Coming Decade

China needs more helicopters.

There are currently 70 or so civil helicopters in operation in China today, but in the coming decade the demand will exceed 1,000. Relevant experts insist that China is in urgent need of a helicopter rescue system, particularly for fire fighting in high buildings and medical first aid. But the Chinese government places rigid restrictions on private purchases of helicopters. It is reported that certain foreign helicopter manufacturers are now entering China, and that a Sino-U.S joint venture has assembled the first prototype in Shanghai.
