The 55-year-long history of China Today
magazine is inextricably linked with a great woman ¨C
Soong Ching Ling, honorary president of the People ' s Republic
of China and widow of Sun Yat-sen. Madame Soong was founder
of this multi-language periodical, dedicated to introducing
China to the world and promoting understanding and friendship
among its people and those of other countries; her ideology
is still a main influence on the magazine. International communication,
to which this magazine has always been dedicated, was a main
aspect of Soong Ching Ling ' s great cause.

a native of Tongxiang, Zhejiang, was the first president of
China Today Magazine and chief of its editorial committee.
