Parade on Ping'an Avenue

By staff reporter ZHANG JINGDE

EVERY Autumn since 1998, the Beijing International Tourist Culture Festival has taken place on Ping'an (Peace) Avenue in the capital of China. It is a time of great joy and hilarity as performing troupes from dozens of countries demonstrate their colorful folklore and sing for peace, friendship and progress for people around the world. This grand gathering of peoples of different color and race indicates the extent of opening and rapid growth of Beijing and the whole of China.

Stilt-walkers from Belgium.

A traditional dance from France.

Flags of the participating countries leading the parade.

Delightful dancers from Hawaii.

"Hello, China."
