Beijing Arbitration Commission

The Beijing Arbitration Commission (from now on called the Commission) is a standing arbitration organization that resolves, promptly and impartially, contractual disputes between citizens, legal persons, and other organizations that are civil subjects of equal status, by way of arbitration.

The Commission was established on September 28, 1995, with the approval of the People's Government of Beijing Municipality, and in accordance with the People's Republic of China Arbitration Law. The Commission comprises one chairman, four vice chairmen and several commission members, all acknowledged experts in the fields of law, economy and trade. The current chairman is Professor Jiang Ping, highly esteemed jurisconsult. The Commission office is responsible for its daily work.

The Commission employs over 200 arbitrators, all well versed in the legal, economic, trade, and technology sectors. Unified rosters have been formulated according to each arbitrator's specialty, and include economic and technological contracts, intellectual property rights, real estate, engineering construction, stocks and securities, and trade and investment.

The Commission arbitrates economic disputes, those of a domestic nature, or involving foreigners, according to the arbitration agreement reached between parties, and the written application for arbitration submitted to the Commission by a party. Parties may select arbitrators from the Commission arbitrator rosters, or entrust the chairman of the Commission to appoint an arbitration tribunal, which carries out arbitration independently, and makes arbitration awards according to the law, facts, and international practice. The final arbitration award is binding on both parties.

The Commission is equipped with advanced facilities and has a pleasant office environment. It has a reception room, an arbitration hall, a retiring room for arbitrators, a meeting room, a secretary's office, a document room, and a data bank of laws and regulations. The arbitration proceedings and daily work are computerized. All arbitration tribunals and parties may be assured of satisfactory service.
